Using Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP), Power Share, Project Water, and local County funds, the Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) provides temporary emergency assistance to residents of Hamilton who are experiencing a financial crisis that threatens health/safety and housing stability. The emergency services provided include limited assistance with rent/mortgages (principle and interest only), utilities, food, prescriptions, and social services referrals.
An emergency is comprehensively defined by EAP as temporary, unexpected, sudden, uncontrollable, and verifiable. EAP is not an appropriate solution to ongoing or chronic financial difficulties and does not supplement income or duplicate benefits/subsidies.
Program eligibility is contingent on applicant need, EAP guidelines, funding source criteria, and availability of resources.
Call (423) 209-6855 for a telephone prescreen assessment (if eligible, an interview appointment will be scheduled). Services are provided by appointment or at designated times only. Walk-ins are discouraged, since prescreening documentation requirements may result in multiple office visits.
