Responsible for county spending, discretionary funds, and all insurance matters. Coordinates budget preparation with County Mayor, the Finance Department and all Commissioners. Works with the Finance Department and County Auditor throughout the year in all matters concerning county finances. Purchasing procedures are also subject to review by this committee. A minimum of three (3) Commissioners, one of whom is the Committee Chairman or designee, may conduct the meeting.

Deals with new construction and major renovation of county buildings, contracts and new industries. Works with economic development, the County Mayor and other organizations to promote recruitment of new business and industry. Deals with all health services. Works with all health related activities, including the County Health Department, the Regional Health Council, highway and other safety programs, and any other health related agencies, to assist in good programs. Works with the Human Services Department, especially in the area of community social services programs.

Responsible for all personnel relations, benefits, grievances, and handbooks. Works with Personnel Office to see that all employees understand personnel policies, benefits to which they are entitled, etc.

Works with other county governmental agencies in public relations and providing public information. Responsible for overseeing recreational facilities, reviewing and making recommendations on county recreation projects. Coordinates county government involvement with the art’s agencies within the community to assist in improving the quality of life in this area.

Monitors the Hamilton County School system, consults with the Superintendent and board members to assess needs, make suggestions and support actions to develop and maintain high quality educational programs for all children of Hamilton County. nty.

Responsible for security as it relates to buildings and property, etc. Coordinates with the Corrections Advisory Board to assist in areas concerning prison population and the development of a vocational educational program for inmates.
Roads, Waste, Energy, Transportation and Zoning Committee

Area of concern includes county roads, sewers, and solid waste. Responsible for the utilization of all rolling stock, garages, and parking lots. To be involved in future planning in these areas to try to anticipate and avoid problems. To seek ways of funding future plans. Also concerned with conservation of energy and development and energy problems. Also coordinates county recycling effort. Works with members of the regional planning commission staff throughout the year in all matters concerning zoning and countywide development.
