Deputy Chief John Combes

John Combes started in EMS in 1978 as an EMT.  Beginning as a volunteer firefighter, he later went to work for the Chattanooga Fire Department in 1979. Chief Combes became a Paramedic in 1980, and began service with Hamilton County in 1989. He was promoted in 1991 to Lieutenant, and later promoted to Captain in 1994.  He remained as Captain of C-Team for the next 7 years. He was appointed Colonel; Adie de Camp, Governors  Staff in 1995. In May 2001, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations and was selected to the International Who's Who of Public Service. He received an Associates Degree in EMS Management in 1991. In 2004, he received the Focus of the Finest Award given by Hamilton County Government. He has two children, 14 and 20. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, golf and restoring old cars. He enjoys listening to his 8-Track tapes in his office and collects EMERGENCY Squad 51 items.
