Chief Ken Wilkerson Ken Wilkerson has been Chief of Hamilton County E.M.S. since August 8, 1988. He was licensed as an EMT in 1976 and received his Paramedic license in 1978. Prior to his employment with Hamilton County, he served with the Chattanooga Fire Department for 13 years. During his time with Chattanooga, he spent 6 years assigned to the Chattanooga Police Department S.W.A.T. Team as a Tactical Medic. He received his initial training in pre-hospital care while in the U.S. Air Force. A native Chattanoogan, he has overseen the growth of the service from 4 ambulances and 37 employees to the current roster of over 120 full/part-time employees and fourteen 24-hour Advanced Life Support ambulances. Chief Wilkerson was appointed in 2002 by Governor Sundquist to serve on the State EMS Board. He is a graduate of both “Management of Emergency Medical Services” and “Advanced Leadership Issues in Emergency Medical Services” courses of the National Fire Academy. He has been certified as an Emergency Medical Service Administrator by the University of Tennessee. He also was elected as Vice-Mayor of Lakesite, Tennessee. |
