AGRICULTURE COMPETITIONS |
|
Entry
forms for the Agricultural Events may be
requested by calling 855-6113, or
online. Youth and
adults may participate.
|
|
The
fresh vegetables and fruits class includes
products like potatoes, onions, southern
peas, okra, hot peppers, bell peppers,
tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, apples,
pears, turnips, and peanuts. Class II
includes winter squash, pumpkins,
watermelons, sunflowers, and ornamental
gourds.
Field
crop competition includes hay, mixed legume
and grass, alfalfa, silage, soybeans, wheat,
and white and yellow corn.

| FLOWER
SHOW BLUE RIBBON COMPETITIONS |

Sponsored
by the Scenic Cities Beautiful Commission
and the Chattanooga Council of Garden Clubs
WHAT:
"Keep Hamilton County Beautiful" is this
year's theme.
The Flower Show is a part of the
County Fair, and strives to interest and
guide people in growing and sharing
beautiful horticulture specimens; to share
with them in creating designs for their
homes and flower shows; and to stimulate
interest in activities of this fair. Any
non-professional horticulturist or designer
in Hamilton County is welcome to exhibit at
this show.
WHEN:
Friday, September
26th from 12 Noon until 4 pm Registered Entries will be
accepted. No entries will be accepted
after 4pm or on Saturday. You
must pre-register your entries.
WHERE:
Chester Frost Park Pavilion
HOW: You
must register through the Flower Show. You
cannot register online. For information
about entering the Flower Show and to
receive an application and booklet call Beth
Hulbert at 423-209-6447.
Ribbons and cash prizes
will be awarded in each division.

| HOME-CENTERED
BLUE RIBBON COMPETITIONS |
|
Categories for this year's
fair are
Crafts, Baked Goods and
Clothing. The Crafts category includes
basketry, ceramics, woodcarving,
woodworking, cross-stitch, weaving, hand
knitting, quilted items, miniatures, toys,
Christmas ornaments, and more. The Clothing
category includes dresses, skirts, suits and
coats, children's garments, and more.
Judging is based on
general appearance and workmanship including
originality, design, and color combination.
The Baked Goods category has lots
for pies, candies, quick breads, cakes,
yeast breads, and cookies.
Judging is based on
product, color, texture,
and appearance including uniform size and
color, maturity, uniform browning, lightness
and flavor. Display and judging of the
entries will take place inside the C hester
Frost
Pavilion.
ALL BAKED GOODS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, MUST BE
IN A PLASTIC THROW AWAY CONTAINER THAT CAN
BE SEALED SHUT. NO PAPER PLATES OR
PLASTIC WRAP WILL BE ALLOWED THIS YEAR. WE
ARE ALLOWING A SEALABLE ZIPLOCK BAG.
