Alternative Bond Program |
|
On February 27, 2006, Hamilton County began the Alternative Bond Program. The program
is designed to relieve overcrowding at the County Jail and Workhouse by accepting
non-violent misdemeanant defendants who are unable to make their assigned bond.
Defendants are screened for suitability using various databases including NCIC.
Defendants who qualify are reviewed by the courts for the final decision of assignment.
The goals of the program are to assist the courts by identifying qualified candidates,
maintain weekly contact with defendants and report to the court on the defendant’s
conduct while awaiting the court date. The program is funded by Hamilton County. |
