On April 3, 2024, the Hamilton County Commission established, by Resolution #424-3, an independent Audit Committee to provide independent review and oversight of
the County’s financial reporting process and internal controls.
The Audit Committee consists of five (5) appointed individuals, one (1) appointee from the legislative body, and four (4) appointees who are residents of Hamilton County
and must be either a certified public accountant, certified fraud examiner, certified internal auditor, or accountant familiar with government accounting, and external to
management with Hamilton County Government. County Attorney Janie Varnell serves as an Ex officio member of the Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee meets four times a year. The meetings are open to the public and are announced 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
