County Roads
The Highway Department maintains county roadways and right-of-ways (i.e. mowing, ditching, and paving), removing ice and snow from roadways during emergency conditions, removing fallen trees and dead animals from roadways,
issues permits for all work within county road right-of-way; responds to and investigates storm drainage complaints; prepares all necessary documents for long range transportation planning for the Metropolitan Planning Organization; prepares design plans and specifications and provides construction administration of miscellaneous projects in Hamilton County; administers design contracts by outside consultants;
installs and maintains all traffic control devices
(including street signs), maintains and applies stripes to county roads, maintains county vehicles for all departments, provides wrecker service for immobilized county
vehicles, and repairs damaged county vehicles.
