Health and Human Services Committee
Purpose: Coordinate public health, human services, personnel relations, and community quality-of-life programming.
Scope: Work with the Health Department, Regional Health Council, and safety programs; collaborate with Human Services on social services; manage personnel relations items with Human Resources including benefits, grievances, and employee handbooks; provide recommendations on parks, recreation, arts engagement, and public information activities.
Education Committee
Purpose: Support collaboration with the school system to improve educational outcomes and fiscal planning.
Scope: Meet quarterly, and as needed, with the Superintendent and County Mayor, and when appropriate Board members; consult and make recommendations on plans, budgets, and initiatives; review cost, feasibility, and educational effectiveness; advance final recommendations to the full Commission.
Public Safety Committee
Alternate
Purpose: Support countywide safety, emergency readiness, and justice system coordination.
Scope: Serve as liaison to the Sheriff’s Office; coordinate with Corrections on population management and vocational programming; provide general oversight of the Judicial Commissioner Program and work-release coordination with the courts; support EMS, fire, volunteer departments, and emergency operations; review technology and infrastructure supporting public safety.
Delinquent Tax Property Committee
Alternate
Purpose: Manage policy and recommendations for property acquired through delinquent tax proceedings.
Scope: Review and recommend approval of delinquent tax property sales presented by the County Trustee and Real Property Division; address legal and transactional matters related to acquisition, management, and disposition of such properties in coordination with the County Attorney and other appropriate offices.
